Josh Hamilton Injury effects on Rangers

Did Josh Hamilton injury affects the Rangers? The Texas Rangers, riding along the first two weeks of the season with baseball's best record, simply couldn't take it any longer.

These guys just can't stand the thought of prosperity.

They need drama to get their juices flowing. They need controversy. They need folks to question their ability to survive.

Now, at a time when everyone was starting to acknowledge they were baseball's finest team, along comes a broken arm to MVP Josh Hamilton. He will be out about two months, the Rangers say. He won't even pick up a bat for a month.

It gets even worse. Hamilton, angry about the injury, criticized third-base coach Dave Anderson for sending him home on the play. Anderson says that Hamilton never should have slid head-first. And general manager Jon Daniels backs up Anderson.

Chelsey Gullickson Lost Against Caroline Wozniacki 2010 US Open

Caroline Wozniacki and Chelsey Gullickson took the court in Arthur Ashe stadium late Tuesday. Tennis bettors looking to back Chelsey will find her priced rather large at 7/1 to take either the first or second sets. Wozniacki, seeded first among the women, has not yet become a big draw in New York, despite reaching last year’s final, where she lost to Kim Clijsters. But with her impressive array of ground strokes and her cheerful demeanor, that day is coming for the appealing Danish star.

The tournament was played across the US teritory in the begining and it finally settled at the Flushing Meadows Arena in Queens, New York. Two other U.S. wild cards were in action Monday. Ryan Sweeting lost to qualifier Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2, and Tim Smyczek lost to No. 22 seed Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-3, 7-5, 7-6(6). The Kevin Anderson – Somdev Devvarman match today was expected to be a good one, but Anderson cruised to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 win. Qualifier Irina Falconi also went out quietly, losing to No. 19 seed Flavia Pennetta 6-2, 6-1.

Brett Wallace Traded To Houston for Anthony Gose

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired OF ANTHONY GOSE from the Houston Astros in exchange for 1B BRETT WALLACE. GOSE was acquired by the Astros earlier today from the Philadelphia Phillies.

GOSE, 19, has appeared in 103 games this season batting .263 for Clearwater, the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate in the Florida State League (A). The 6-1, 190 lb., left-handed hitter has collected 17 doubles, 11 triples, four home runs with 20 RBI while adding 36 stolen bases. The Paramount, California native was the Phillies second round selection in the 2008 First Year Player Draft. In 2009, he led all minor league players with 76 stolen bases while hitting .259 for Lakewood of the South Atlantic League (A).

WALLACE, 23, has hit .301 this season with Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) with 24 doubles, 18 home runs and 61 runs batted in. The 6-2, 205 lb. left-handed hitting first baseman was in his first year with the Blue Jays organization after being acquired from the Oakland Athletics on December 16, 2009 in exchange for OF Michael Taylor. Wallace was originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2008 First Year Player Draft.

Tom Back. This one is a huge surprise. We all figured Wallace was our first baseman of the future. Gose is supposed to be fast but this year he has 36 steals with 27 caught stealing. That's a sign that you should stop trying to steal. Off the first look I really don't understand.

Juwan Howard officially signs contract with Miami Heat

The Miami Heat announced the expected signing of power forward Juwan Howard on Tuesday, adding to an already deep frontcourt.

"This is a great addition for us," team president Pat Riley said. "We felt that Juwan's ability to play both the four and five spot would be complimentary to what we have put together. He also gives us incredible professionalism and is a perfect fit behind Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem."

Howard, 37, averaged 6.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 22.4 minutes in 73 games for Portland last season, including 27 starts. He shot 50.9 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.

He has played for seven teams in 16 seasons and has career averages of 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

After LeBron James committed to the Heat, Howard let the Heat know he was interested in signing and money would not be an issue.

"This is a great opportunity," said Howard, who will earn the $1.3 million veteran's minimum. "I'm looking forward to contributing in any way I can toward the success of the team both on and off the court."

Howard, selected fifth overall by Washington in the 1994 NBA Draft, signed a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Heat in July 1996, but the NBA voided the deal because the Heat had exceeded the salary cap.

His signing gives the Heat 12 players under contract, including four centers and three power forwards. Point guard Carlos Arroyo's new deal is expected to be finalized soon.

LeBron James Joins Twitter

Basketball superstar LeBron James starts twitting! The NBA's most ballyhooed free agent opened an account on the social networking site Tuesday. Publicist Keith Estabrook confirms the monicker kingjames is indeed LeBron.

James had been reluctant to join Twitter or Facebook and had even joked in the past about how other athletes discussed their personal lives online.

Close friend Chris Paul posted on Twitter at midday Tuesday that while he couldn't persuade James to tell him which team he'll sign with, he talked him into joining the service. Less than an hour after Paul's tweet, James had nearly 18,000 followers – even though he had yet to make a single post.

Red Wings, Blackhawks Bruiser Bob Probert Dies at Age 45

Bob Probert, one of the NHL's fiercest and most intimidating enforcers, died suddenly on Monday at the age of 45 after collapsing in his boat on Lake St. Clair, according to CKLW in Windsor, Ontario. According to the reports, Probert was rushed to a Windsor hospital with no vital signs after receiving CPR from emergency crews, who arrived on the scene after an emergency call was placed around 3 p.m. ET.

Probert spent 16 years in the NHL as a member of the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, and was arguably the top heavyweight in the league when it came to hockey pugilism.

Probert played 935 games in the NHL, scoring 162 goals to go with 221 assists. His best season was the 1987-88 campaign with Detroit, when he scored a career-high 29 goals in 74 games (while also leading the league with 398 penalty minutes).

Perhaps his most famous goal was the one he scored on February 13, 1999, when he tallied the final goal in the 67-year history of the legendary Maple Leaf Gardens.

He last played in the NHL during the 2001-02 season (with the Blackhawks) and is still No. 5 on the all-time list when it comes to penalty minutes (3,300)

Ace Tigers Joel Zumaya Seriously Injured

Ace Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya, who entered play Monday with a 2.63 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 37.2 innings, seriously injured himself throwing a pitch against Delmon Young. After throwing the pitch, Zumaya flailed his right arm around before kneeling over and grimacing. As the coaches and training staff came out, Zumaya's forearm was twitching, and two trainers helped him walk off the field as he held his elbow.

Zumaya has been plagued with injuries before, but never to his elbow. If this is serious - and all indications are that it is - it will deal a big blow to the Tigers' playoff chances, and a bigger blow to Zumaya's career, which finally seemed back on track.

Broncos' Brandon Marshall traded to Miami Dolphins

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round draft pick in next week's NFL draft and a pick in 2011. In this photo, he fires up his team during the New York Giants game on Nov. 26, 2009, at Invesco Field at Mile High.

The exhilarating, maddening, starstruck career of Brandon Marshall as a Denver Bronco is finished.

Marshall has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick that the Broncos will use next Friday in the NFL Draft and another draft pick in 2011.

With the Broncos, Marshall posted three consecutive 100-catch seasons, two consecutive Pro Bowls, but also several distracting disturbances both on- and off-the field — and no playoff appearances.

The trade to Miami was surprising because Dolphins coach Tony Sparano had said he didn’t think Marshall would be a good fit for his team. However, Bill Parcells has final say on Dolphins personnel and Parcells has never been afraid of working with controversial-but-talented receivers. Jimmy Rollins Stops by Calf Injury

Jimmy Rollins Stops by Calf Injury. Rollins was a late scratch for the Philadelphia Phillies' home opener because of a strained right calf.

The All-Star shortstop had already been announced as the leadoff hitter during pregame introductions.

Rollins was injured while he running on the field shortly before the first pitch Monday against Washington. Juan Castro replaced Rollins.

Rollins is off to a fast start, batting .391 (9-for-23) with a .516 on-base percentage for the two-time defending National League champions.

Australian Grand Prix Winner- Jenson Button

After two weeks of criticism over a processional race at the season opener in Bahrain and accusations that the Formula One’s new rules had made the series a bore, the second race of the season proved to be one of the most exciting in the last decade.

With three world champion drivers colliding with each other in the first corner at the start of the race and John Travolta on hand as a guest to wave the checkered flag over the winner, it looked like a Hollywood production from start to finish.

And what a finish it was as the reigning world champion Jenson Button – who started fourth before dropping to seventh after the early crash – made a bold tire change decision and climbed quickly up the pack to second position, before taking the lead by Lap 26 after the race leader, Sebastian Vettel, spun off with a brake failure.

Button took the eighth victory of his career and his second in a row in Melbourne, where he started his victorious campaign last season at the Brawn team. This time, however, it was in only his second race with the McLaren Mercedes team.

“It’s a very special feeling, I feel I’m building confidence and hopefully we’ll do similar at the next race,” said Button. “It was great to see because Bahrain wasn’t the most exciting race. I did see the TV screen and it looked like a very exciting race, and hopefully we’re going to have a lot more races like this, because this is what we all love.”

The race began in the evening and Button said he found it very difficult to see toward the end of the 58 laps.

A sudden drizzle that dampened the track about 16 minutes before the race began was the catalyst for the chaotic start, but the excitement continued long after the track dried out, right to the final laps.

At the first corner of the first lap, Fernando Alonso, a double world champion, Button and Michael Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, entered the corner side-by-side and Alonso, in a Ferrari, spun into Button. Button’s car pushed off Alonso into a spin and the Ferrari hit Schumacher’s car and broke the front wing of the Mercedes.

“The start of the race wasn’t perfect with me, I touched with Fernando at Turn 1,” said Button. “I was halfway inside of him and I don’t know if he didn’t see me, but we touched and it cost me a lot.”

In fact, Button only dropped to seventh place after starting the race in fourth, whereas Alonson dropped to third last and Schumacher fell to the last position because of the collision.

Alonso managed to climb up the pack and finish the race in fourth, but Schumacher spent most of the race trailing behind Jaime Alguersuari in a Toro Rosso, and the German finished in tenth position, finally passing the Spaniard with two laps left before passing another Spanish driver, Pedro de la Rosa.

The race ended with a battle between Hamilton – the only other world champion in the series – and Alonso, with a grand finale for fourth between world champions, the way the race had started. But Mark Webber the local driver in the other Red Bull, was less than half a second behind Hamilton, making it a three-way battle for fourth.

With one and a half laps left in the race, Webber ran into the back of Hamilton’s car as Hamilton tried to pass Alonso. Hamilton nevertheless finished sixth, and Webber finished ninth.

Felipe Massa finished in third, behind Robert Kubica, the Polish driver for Renault, who finished second, at 12 seconds behind Button.

Pacquiao: Confident Winning Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight

Reuters report about the upcoming Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight says that the Filipino ring king Manny Pacquiao said his lightning fast speed will be enough to nullify Joshua Clottey's size advantage when the two meet in Dallas on Saturday.

"My quickness will be the key, my speed," the seven-time world champion told Reuters as he prepared for a public workout in front of a throng of fans.

However, the WBO welterweight champion is not taking his Ghanaian opponent lightly.

"You cannot underestimate Joshua Clottey," he said. "He's a good fighter, and he's bigger than me, and I have to be very focused in the fight."

Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach acknowledges that former IBF title holder Clottey, a natural welterweight, has a size advantage over the champion, who began his career forty pounds lighter.

"But I don't think size wins fights," he said. "I think skill does. He may be a little stronger than Manny on the inside, he might hit a little harder, but I think our speed will nullify that."

Roach said he has been watching footage of Clottey's fights, and has identified a few key habits that he and his fighter intend to exploit.

"He'll wait for you to throw a combination and then, when you've stopped, he'll throw back. So if you stand in front of him, you're an idiot," he said. "We're not going to do that. He's not going to be able to find us.

"Sometimes he uses his head," Roach said of Clottey, 35-3 (20 KOs), whose first defeat came when he was disqualified for headbutts.

"If you fall into the pocket with him, his best punch is an uppercut and his second best punch is a headbutt. So we're not going to go in there. We're going to fight him at distance."

A crowd of several hundred watched Pacquiao's workout, a turnout that a beaming Pacquiao, 50-3-2 (38 KOs), described as 'amazing'.

The fight will be the first to be held at Cowboys Stadium, with 45,000 spectators expected to attend, and the Filipino said he was looking forward to the opportunity to show his skills in front of such a large audience at a new venue.

"I'm very excited to fight in Cowboys Stadium, especially because this is the first fight there," said Pacquiao. "It's an honor to fight in Dallas. I can't wait until Saturday. This is for the fans. This is my chance to show them what I can do." ...Watch the Live Fight HERE!

2010 Winter Olympics Men's Hockey Finals Result- Canada Defeats USA

Here is the 2010 Winter Olympics Men's Hockey Finals Result as team Canada Defeats team USA. In a fitting conclusion to the high hockey drama at these Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada's greatest player of this generation led the way to gold for the host country.

Sidney Crosby's goal past Ryan Miller at 7:40 of overtime earned Team Canada the gold medal in a 3-2 victory over the United States. With Crosby and Jarome Iginla perfecting a give-and-go, the Pittsburgh Penguins superstar beat defender Brian Rafalski to the net, accepted the pass and scored past Miller from the right side as Canada Hockey Place erupted in deafening cheers.

"This is a dream come true," said Crosby. "I always dreamed of playing for Team Canada and winning the gold medal. It was a lot closer than we would have liked it, but it's an unbelievable feeling."

"It's not quite what we wanted, but we gained a lot of respect," said Miller, who was the best goaltender throughout the Olympics. "We came here kind of as an afterthought to some people. We've started a new trend at USA Hockey."

With 25 seconds left in regulation and their goaltender pulled for an extra attacker, the U.S. tied the game on a goal by Zach Parise. A turnaround shot by Patrick Kane bounced off teammate Jamie Langenbrunner and on to the stick of Parise, who dunked it past Roberto Luongo from just outside the crease.

"We weren't happy we gave up that goal," said Crosby. "But going into the locker room before the overtime, we knew we still had an opportunity. We wanted to go after it and make sure we didn't regret anything in overtime."

Goals by young veterans Jonathan Toews and Corey Perry gave Canada a 2-0 lead midway through the game.

Toews scored the crucial first goal of the game at 12:45 of the first period. The U.S. won a faceoff deep in its own end, but then everything went wrong. Erik Johnson pushed the puck to defense mate Brian Rafalski, who was stripped of the puck by Canada's Mike Richards. Ryan Miller made a kick save on Richards' shot, but Toews scored on the rebound at the side of the net.

At 7:13 of the second period, Perry gave Canada a 2-0 lead. On a 3-on-2, Perry's Anaheim teammate Ryan Getzlaf backhanded the puck toward the USA goal. It caromed off the skate of U.S. defenseman Ryan Whitney (also with the Ducks) and Perry banged the loose puck past Miller from 10 feet out.

Ryan Kesler cut Canada's lead in half five minutes later when he deflected Patrick Kane's shot by Luongo, his Vancouver goaltender. Play was fairly even the rest of the way before Parise scored the equalizer for Team USA.

Luongo made 34 saves for Canada, Miller 36 saves for the U.S.

"The Americans played a great, great game," said Canada captain Scott Niedermayer. "They kept coming at us, but we kept our composure and we're obviously very happy to win the gold."

Said Crosby: "Whether we won or somebody else, everyone saw the last couple of weeks a pretty amazing display of skill and how the game should be played."
