John Lennon Quotes, Songs, and Legacy
As a salute to his greatness. Here my few favorite lines from the man who said,"The Beatles are bigger than Jesus".
“Living is easy with eyes closed.”
“One thing you can’t hide – is when you’re crippled inside.”
“God is a concept by which we measure our pain.”
“War is over … If you want it.”
“I get by with a little help from my friends.”
MTV Video Music Awards 2010 Live Stream: 2010 MTV VMA Live
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will be aired live on September 12 from the Nokia Theater, in Los Angeles, California. Electronic artist Deadmau5 has been announced as the "in house artist" and will be soundtracking the event. Lady Gaga broke two records with this year's nominations: She became the first female solo artist with two nominations in the Video of the Year category and the artist with the most nominations in a single year receiving 13 (18 including Beyoncé's "Video Phone (Extended Remix)" nominations).
Lady Gaga's Circle Contact Lenses a Health Hazard?

Lady Gaga is almost making a name on anything else. Now her Circle Contact Lenses are the hottest thing on the eye of the Federal Health authorities. According to emaxhealth.com , celebrities have long had the ability to spark new fashion trends, but the latest from Lady Gaga may have health consequences. In her “Bad Romance” video, the singer appears to have wider-than-normal eyes that are being copied by teens and young women across the country using special contact lenses called “circle lenses.”
Circle lenses are imported from Asia and sometimes come in strange colors such as violet and pink. They make the eyes appear larger and “doll-like” because they not only cover the iris as normal contact lenses do, but also part of the whites of the eyes. The look is characteristic of Japanese anime, and is “mainstream” in Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
“In the past year, there’s been a sharp increase in interest here in the U.S.,” said Joyce Kim, the 31-year-old founder of Soompi.com, an Asian pop fan site with a forum devoted to circle lenses. “Once early adopters have adequately posted about it, discussed it and reviewed them, it’s now available to everyone.”
Contact lenses in the United States are illegal for sale without a prescription, but the new circle lenses are available online for $20 to $30 a pair. Melody Vue, a 16-year-old in Morganton NC who was interviewed by the NY Times, owns 22 pairs and wears them regularly. She said her friends do also, especially for pictures.
Circle lens websites do not verify proof of prescription, and customers can freely choose strength as well as color during purchase. The lenses are also not undergone quality or safety checks as other contact lens are required to have.
Karen Riley, spokeswoman for the FDA, said “Consumers risk significant eye injuries, even blindness, when they buy contact lenses without a valid prescription or help from an eye professional.”
More than 30 million Americans use contact lenses, according to the Contact Lens Council. Because they are worn directly on the eye, they can lead to eye infections and corneal ulcers. Poorly-fitting contact lenses can scratch the cornea or deprive the eye of oxygen, causing serious vision problems and even blindness.
For those wishing to wear decorative contacts, also called plano contacts, the FDA offers following advice to minimize risk:
> Get an eye exam from a licensed eye care professional, even if you feel your vision is perfect.
> Get a valid prescription that includes the brand and lens dimensions.
> Buy the lenses from an eye care professional or from a vendor who requires that you provide prescription information for the lenses.
> Follow directions for cleaning, disinfecting, and wearing the lenses, and visit your eye care professional for follow-up eye exams.

Paul Gray: Slipknot Bassist found Dead
This is seriously one of the most unfortunate years for deaths in metal that we can think of. In little more than a month, we’ve lost Peter Steele, Ronnie James Dio, and now Paul Gray. If it does indeed turn out to be drug related, it’s an extremely unfortunate turn of events from one of the most popular bands in metal. This is all preliminary, but if Gray is leaving behind a wife and a kid that will grow up never having met his dad, it’s the ultimate selfish move.
Forming in 1995, Slipknot burst onto the nu-metal scene with their self-titled album. Known initially for their appearance and masks, the nine-member band subsequently won over many fans that initially dismissed them with their mix of heaviness and their impressive stage show. The first three Slipknot albums have all gone platinum. Their fourth, 2008’s All Hope is Gone, was their first to debut at #1 and will go platinum later this year.
Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne Romance is Unstoppable
The romantic heat between Brody Jenner and singer, Avril Lavigne, is unstoppable…this time in Vegas! Paparazzi caught ‘The Hills’ star kissing the singer in Los Angeles last week, before the couple high-tailed it to Vegas and were crowded by photographers as they had dinner at Aria’s Union and then headed over to Haze nightclub, where sources caught the couple “all over each other”.
Avril Lavigne Will we be seeing diamonds and engagement rings any time soon or is it all just a publicity stunt?

Friends of the ‘The Hills’ star say the new relationship is definitely the real deal. One friend recently had this to say: “He’s totally into her- that’s kind of surprising because Avril is totally not his type…But it’s definitely not a publicity stunt. She’s not high maintenance so he can be chill and not deal with a playmate kind of girl.”
The two even decided to get tattoos together while in Vegas. After becoming affectionate at the opening party for Mario Barth’s King Ink, the pair were seen kissing several times. Lavigne chose to get a tattoo on her wrist–of the number 30, accompanied by a lightning bolt. Jenner then got his tattoo: a lightning bolt below his ear. Sounds serious!

ACM Awards 2010! Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Laura Bell Bundy on the Red Carpet! (Photos)
Tonight is the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. Everyone's favorite country music stars posed for photos on the red carpet on their way in. In my opinion, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Laura Bell Bundy were the hottest ones on the red carpet!
Let's have a look at the lovely ladies!
Carrie Underwood
Carrie looks gorgeous in this dress. She is such a talented young lady. I've loved her since the first time I heard her sing on American Idol. I'm glad that she's stayed true to who she is instead of trying to go mainstream.
Carrie looks very glamorous tonight!

Peter Steele Dead at 48: Type O Negative Frontman
Though there has been no official statement from the band Type O Negative, Fuse VJ “MistressJuliya confirmed the news in her Twitter account. In her four tweets MistressJuliya said:
“Today is a very sad day in metal…”
“End of an era.”
“Peter Steele passed today. I loved my friend…our idol…my heart is with his band and family…”
Rock Icon Alex Chilton Dies
The Commercial Appeal said that Mr. Chilton, who lived in New Orleans, had recently been complaining of health problems, and was taken on Wednesday by paramedics to an emergency room in New Orleans where he was pronounced dead. His death was confirmed to the Commercial Appeal by Jody Stephens, his longtime band mate in Big Star. The group was scheduled to perform on Saturday at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin.
Mr. Chilton, who grew up in Memphis, was just 16 years old when the Box Tops, in which he sang and played guitar, had a No. 1 hit with “The Letter” in 1967. When that group broke up in 1970, Mr. Chilton formed Big Star with Mr. Stephens, a drummer, and the musicians Chris Bell and Andy Hummel. The band’s first album, “#1 Record,” in 1972, did not come close to fulfilling the commercial promise of its title, nor did the followup releases “Radio City” and “Third/Sister Lovers.” But their music – gentle and introspective songs like “The Ballad of El Goodo” and “September Gurls,” and exuberant anthems like “In the Street” – had a profound impact on generations of pop and indie acts that followed.
Perhaps the surest measure of the tug that Mr. Chilton exerted on subsequent artists can be found in the lyrics of the Replacements – another malleable rock act that moved more hearts than retail units – who sang in their song “Alex Chilton”: “Children by the million / Sing for Alex Chilton / When he comes ’round / They sing, ‘I’m in love / What’s that song? / I’m in love with that song.’” source: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/
Record Companies Resort To Different Tactics To Collect Money
It seems as though record companies have developed a new game plan in order to collect royalties. As we all know, the music industry attempted to sue individual users who illegally downloaded songs. But because of this approach to recover from major fiscal loss has destroyed their public image.
Instead of lowering the cost of CDs in order to compete with music circulating through the internet that is for free, these businesses have turned to collection agencies who are now bringing cellphone companies to court over royalties from ring tones. Contesting that ring tones counted as public performances, the music industry asserted that cell phone companies should be obligated to pay performance fees. The courts quickly denied this claim.

Despite this unfruitful endeavour to collect on royalties, Broadcast Music Inc is now suing T-Mobile over ring back tones, alleging that the mobile carrier is selling them without licensing agreements. Unlike ring tones, which play publically when someone calls, ring back tones are only heard specifically by the person calling. Instead of hearing a cellphone dialing, the caller will hear a song that was chosen by the cell owner.
Critics are quick to point out the apparent irony of this lawsuit. If ringtones, which can be heard by anyone around a cellphone, do not constitute public performance, it seems ludicrous to sue the mobile carriers over a ringback tone that can be heard only by the caller. With record companies suffering from huge financial losses, it seems as though they are grasping at straws in order to collect any money that they possibly can.
It does not seem that lowering the cost of CDs and DVDs is an idea that has occurred to the major companies. There are still a number of music fans out there that prefer to collect and own the media, however with prices constantly spiking, downloading music for free seems very tempting. CDs generally go on sale for about seventeen dollars.
Some bands have been avoiding the issue of music downloading through different tactics. Radiohead, an alternative rock band, created a website where fans are allowed to download the music for free, or for a donation. Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has created a similar website. Keeping record companies' unsuccessful lawsuits and declining public image in mind, it appears as though creative thinking and fair pricing may be more productive than bullying money out of mobile carriers and individual users.

We Are The World 25 For Haiti Lyrics
[Justin Bieber]
There comes a time
When we heed a certain call
[Nicole Scherzinger & Jennifer Hudson]
When the world must come together as one
[Jennifer Hudson]
There are people dying
[Jennifer Nettles]
And it’s time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
[Josh Groban]
We can’t go on
Pretending day by day
[Tony Bennet]
that someone, somehow will soon make a change
[Mary J Blige]
We are all a part of
God’s great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need
[Chorus]
[Michael Jackson]
We are the world
We are the children
[Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson]
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
[Barbra Streisand]
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
[Miley Cyrus]
Send them your heart
So they’ll know that someone cares
[Enrique Iglesias]
so their cries for help
will not be in vain
[Nicole Scherzinger]
We can’t let them suffer
no we cannot turn away
[Jamie Foxx]
Right now they need a helping hand
[Wyclef Jean]
Nou se mond la
We are the Children
[Adam Levine]
We are the ones who make a brighter day
so lets start giving
[Pink]
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
[BeBe Winans]
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
[Michael Jackson]
When you’re down and out
There seems no hope at all
[Usher]
But if you just believe
There’s no way we can fall
[Celine Dion]
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change can only come
[Fergie]
When we stand together as one
[Chorus - All]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
[Nick Jonas]
Got to start giving
[All]
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
[Toni Braxton]
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
[Mary Mary]
We are the world
We are the children
[Tony Bennet]
Its for the children
[Isaac Slade]
We are the ones who make a brighter day
[Toni Braxton]
So lets start giving
[Lil Wayne]
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
[Chorus - All]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
[Akon]
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we make a better day
Just you and me
[T-Pain]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
[Jamie Foxx imitating Ray Charles]
Choice were making
saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
[Rapping - LL Cool J, Will-I-Am, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz]
We all need somebody that we can lean on
when you wake up look around and see that your dreams gone
when the earth quakes we’ll help you make it through the storm
when the floor breaks a magic carpet to stand on
we are the World united by love so strong
when the radio isn’t on you can hear the songs
a guided light on the dark road your walking on
a sign post to find the dreams you thought was gone
someone to help you move the obstacles you stumbled on
someone to help you rebuild after the rubble’s gone
we are the World connected by a common bond
Love the whole planet sing it along
[Wyclef]
CABARETT
[Chorus - All]
[Kanye West]
Everyday citizens
everybody pitching in
[Singing - Children & Wyclef Jean]
Nou se mond la
nou se timoun yo
[Will-I-Am]
You and I
You and I
[Kanye West]
Uh, 12 days no water
whats your will to live?
[Will-I-Am]
we amplified the love we watching multiply
[Kanye West]
Feeling like the Worlds end
we can make the World win
[Will-I-Am]
Like Katrina, Africa, Indonesia
and now Haiti needs us, the need us, they need us
[Chorus - All]
[Wyclef Jean]
Haiti, Haiti, Ha, Ha, ha, ha, ha
Haiti, Haiti, Ha, Ha, ha, ha, ha
Haiti, Haiti, Ha, Ha, ha, ha, ha
[End]
